Candle Care & Burn Tips
To enjoy your Bessie Jean candle safely and get the best burn every time, the following simple care tips are recommended:
1. First burn matters
Allow your candle to burn long enough for the entire surface to melt evenly to the edges of the jar. This helps prevent tunnelling and ensures an even burn next time.
2. Trim your wick
Before each burn, trim the wick to around 5mm. This keeps the flame steady, reduces smoke, and helps your candle last longer.
3. Keep it clear
Make sure the wax pool is free of debris such as wick trimmings, dust, or matches.
4. Burn time
Do not burn your candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time. Allow it to cool completely before relighting.
5. Placement
Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, curtains, and anything flammable.
6. Finishing your candle
Stop burning when approximately 1cm of wax remains at the bottom of the jar to prevent overheating the glass.
